4.5 Operator Quick Reference (ASM)
Use the operator cockpit to go live, advance cues, and handle show-time controls.
This page is for the live operator only. It does not cover editor changes or deployment setup.
ASM Quick Reference
Use this page during rehearsal or showtime when you need the live controls quickly.
Before the show
- Open
ASM Console (operator)from the Audience & Operator links section in Deployment Cockpit. - Unlock it with the operator password.
- Confirm the cue list matches the correct show.
- Test
Previous,Next, the#jump field, andBlackoutin the bottom control bar. - If projection is part of the show, open
Projection Mode Settingfrom the top-right ASM header and test theProjection Window. - If audience phones are part of the show, test the
Viewer (audience)link separately. Projection continuity does not mean phones will keep receiving subtitles during venue internet loss.

What to watch during the show
- The header status shows whether the console is Live, Connecting..., or Degraded.
- Viewers: shows the current audience count.
- Line in the bottom bar shows the current cue number.
- Click a cue in the list if you need a fast jump.
If something goes wrong
- If you advance too far, click the correct cue in the list or use the
#field in the bottom control bar. - If output should disappear, use
Blackoutin the bottom-left area. - If the console loses connection, follow the rehearsed backup path for your production.
- If projection is still working but phones stop updating, treat that as a mobile delivery problem. Check normal venue internet and the viewer path separately.
- Do not rely on this page for editor changes. Use Update Live Subtitles for that.
FAQ
Common questions for this workflow, based on the current SurtitleLive system.
What should I do if I need a backup operator?+
Assign one primary operator, then test any backup-device handoff before the show starts. Do not have multiple people drive cues at the same time.
Can I load saved subtitle fixes into an active deployment?+
Yes, but this is not an ASM cue-control action. Save in Editor, then use Update Live in the editor or Update Live Subtitles in Deployment Cockpit. ASM only controls live cues.
